Christmas in Ukraine

Larysa Osypchuk tells us about traditions and changes- Part 2

The next day the family visits their relatives to spend the evening together. They are expecting for carolers, people who go from house to house and sing Christmas carols while usually being dressed up in traditional Ukrainian clothes. They have a Christmas Star with them. Their mission is to spread the Christmas spirit, and the Holy News, that Jesus, the Son of God is born. People give them money, sweets and fruit for delivering the News.

This year, the Ukrainians are scattered all over the globe, but despite any hardships that come in the way, they continue brightening the atmosphere, no matter what country they are in. It makes no difference either you are a child, sitting in the cellar, a soldier in the snowy trenches, a mother waiting for her son or husband to return, or one of those who lost their houses, being forced to move abroad, waiting every minute for this war to end, to just be able to hug their relatives. It does not matter who you are and where you are, Christmas will come to everyone.
