Coming to Vechta
Studies, research, short-term stay: We support you on your way to the University of Vechta and during your stay or studies.

Information for partners/spouses

If your partner accompanies you to your stay in Vechta and they would like to work here, you will find information for your job search in the district of Vechta on this page.

Work permit

In order to be able to work in Germany, you need a work permit (except you are a citizen of a member country of the European Union, Iceland, Lichtenstein or Norway). To obtain a work permit, you must in any case apply for a residence permit including the note “Erwerbstätigkeit gestattet” (gainful employment permitted) before entering the country. Since that process takes a considerable amount of time, you should take care of it in good time. If you have any questions about finding a job, please feel free to contact us and we will be happy to put you in touch with the respective contact person for your request.

German courses and auditors

If you will not be working in Germany, but still want to make good use of the time here, you can participate in German courses to learn the language. The Volkshochschule Vechta (adult education centre) offers courses in Deutsch als Fremdsprache (German as a foreign language) at various levels, but also courses on a variety of other topics.

You can also enrol as an auditor in various courses at the University of Vechta. Further information on the auditing studies can be found here.
