International profile

International exchange is not only important for studying or teaching, but also a precondition for high-ranking research and innovation. That is the reason why the internationalisation of teaching and research has an important role at the University of Vechta.

The University of Vechta is very attractive for students, staff and guests with an international horizon. The University of Vechta stands out due to:

  • a focussed range of degree programmes with courses in English
  • exchange programmes, scholarships and other funding possibilities for incoming and outgoing students
  • globally connected research and teaching with about 100 international partners
  • an economically and culturally attractive environment
  • a culture of welcome with international student groups, celebrations and events

The important points of the internationalisation strategy are defined in the strategy paper, which was developed together with the University Development Plan. The Department for International Affairs coordinates and supports the realisation of the internationalisation strategy. The brochure of the internationalisation strategy can be found here (PDF 15.875 KB).

The University of Vechta offers their students attractive programmes and projects for internationally orientated studies.

By establishing courses with an international orientation, the University of Vechta wants to attract prospective international students. Furthermore, this is intended to prepare German students for an international work environment in academia and economics.

The university’s range of programmes has a main emphasis on Education as well as Social and Human Services. In addition, there is a wide range of programmes from A for Anglistik (English Studies) to W for Wirtschaft und Ethik (Business and Ethics: Social Business). You can find an overview of courses held in English here.

Students can, for example, choose courses from the English programme “Certificate of International Management and Practical Ethics”.

Furthermore, international exchange students in the teacher training programme can participate in the university’s Teacher Education Programme for International Students (flyer in English, PDF 532 KB), a programme offered each winter semester.
