Studying in Vechta

More than just a place to study – also a piece of home.

As a rule, decisions about studying involve two questions: What do I want to study? Where do I want to do that? Sometimes the answer to the first question already narrows down the possible study locations, but not always.

Therefore, we would like to show you on these pages what makes Vechta such a unique place to study and why Vechta is always a good choice. No matter whether you have already decided what to study or whether you are still deciding: We are available to answer all your questions about studying and starting a degree programme. We will be happy to advise you.

Good reasons why it is worth studying in Vechta:

Das Oldenburger Münsterland – viel grün. viel drauf.

The Oldenburg Münsterland has a lot to offer for studying and leisure time. Enjoy off-mainstream leisure activities, fast connections to the North Sea coast and routes perfectly suitable for travelling on foot, by bike or on water. Studying in the countryside does not only refer to the city park.

You will find an attractive place to study here, with a dynamically developing labour market and many opportunities not only to find the right career path, but also to get your career started.

Study location Vechta

Vechta is a young, up-and-coming city with around 40,000 inhabitants in the Oldenburg Münsterland region. The rural charm combined with the innovative power of a dynamic labour market and the manageable cost of living offer perfect study conditions for all those who are not looking for the hustle and bustle of the big city, who don’t want to live in a tiny room in an overpriced shared flat and who don’t enjoy long commutes to the university. It is perfect for students who go at their own pace.

In Vechta, life might proceed at a different pace than elsewhere. Doors are open and the day begins and ends with a hearty “Moin”. By the way, with the semester ticket, you can enjoy big city flair as well.

Our campus – a bit like coming home

Our campus is a piece of home for our students. Everything on campus is within easy walking or cycling distance and offers plenty of opportunity to meet up. The countryside as well as the town centre are also nearby. Accommodation options are just as close as daily supplies.

Our students and their engagement

There are various student initiatives at the University of Vechta, from the debating club to aid projects and the queer university group, so that everyone can find something that suits them. One of the main concerns of the University of Vechta is participation – with regard to the university in general, studying and campus life. Students are significantly well represented in our university committees and thus, their ideas and conceptions are heard.

Become a part of our community and get actively involved. We are looking forward to it.

Our advisory services

Our advisory services are as diverse as our students. Given the university’s philosophy “Responsibility is Key”, we take our task seriously and want to provide you with the best possible start to your studies and a successful course of study. To this end, we continuously review the respective framework conditions and take into account the diversity of our students.
