Compulsory proof of health insurance
The electronic student registration procedure (SMV)
All students must have health insurance. The confirmation of your health insurance has to be received by the university.
Exception: persons who have reached the age of 30, doctoral students and guest students.
According to § 199a of the German Social Code (SGB V) the data transfer must be reported between universities and statutory health insurance companies in Germany in both directions. Therefore, notifications submitted by post or mail can't be accepted and processed.
Please tell the statutory health insurance company our sender number: H0000998 (University of Vechta).
- By completing the online enrolment in the application portal of our university, the applicant only has to enter the company number of the German statutory health insurance company with the insurance number but does not upload any health insurance documents. In case you have a private or foreign health insurance you fill in "befreit". You confirm that you are taking care of a valid student health insurance.
- You inform your health insurance company that you will be enrolled at our university, they will send us the notification required. Please contact your health insurance accordingly – the sooner, the better! Note our sender number: H0000998 (University of Vechta).
- In case you have a private or foreign health insurance: you must contact German statutory health insurance company you wish, which will notify us of the existence of a private insurance. The privat or foreign insurance company isn't able to send us an electric notification.
- At the latest of the time of enrolment, we need an electronic notification of your insurance status (M10) from your health insurance company.
- If we have not received a positive electronic notification from your health insurance company by the end of the deadline (summer semester 15th may / winter semester 15th november), you won't be enrolled. The enrolment can only be obtained when you submitted all the required documents.
In case you have a private or a foreign health insurance: you must contact any German statutory health insurance company you wish, which will notify us of the existence of a private insurance.
The privat or foreign insurance company isn't able to send us an electric notification.
If you are already enrolled - without reservation - you do not have to do anything regarding your health insurance, even when changing degree course or subject.
In order for the next re-registration to take place smoothly, we need an electronic notification from your new health insurance company about the change of health insurance (M11). Please contact your health insurance company – the sooner, the better. Your health insurance company will then send us the required notification.
If you didn't pay your health insurance amount on time or in full, your health insurance company will issue a status notification about the default (M12).
A block will automatically be placed on your re-registration for the following semester. You can view this block in the online service under 'Study Organization > Fee Overview.' Please contact your health insurance company immediately. If you fail to pay the insurance contribution, you will be disenrolled at the end of the semester without further notice (winter semester: March 31st / summer semester: September 30th).
The health insurance companies notify the universities of the
- Insurance status (M10)
