The degree programme qualifies students for academic work and offers them the opportunity to gain experience with academic research in study projects. It also qualifies students for a further academic career (doctorate). The degree programme also enables students to spend time at another university in Germany or abroad during the standard period of study (mobility window).

- Social relationships and productivity: psychological perspectives
- Psychosocial adaptation and self-regulation across the lifespan
- Methods of ageing research

- Master's thesis and Master's colloquium
In addition, further gerontological and management modules are available in the compulsory elective area. An internship option is available.
The Master's degree opens up career prospects in research and teaching. Further employment opportunities for gerontologists include assessment or counselling in public relations or in project management. The programme also qualifies graduates to work for organisations related to ageing, older people or generational issues - for example in the healthcare sector, charities, foundations, etc.
The two Master's degree programmes in Ageing Sciences / Gerontology & Management of Social Services can be studied as a double degree programme at the University of Vechta. This is made possible by joint modules and mutual recognition.
