Workshop: Land Use, Social Identities and Rural Development | Comparative Perspectives on India, the Amazon and Germany

Beginn: 09.06.2026, 10:00 Uhr
Ende: 09.06.2026, 12:00 Uhr

Place: U 111

Convenors: Dr. Mirka Erler, Dr. Anne-Katrin Broocks and Dr. Menokhono (Tata Institute of Social Science, Mumbai)

Availing ourselves or the opportunity of Dr. Menokhono's visit in the course of the university’s International Week, VISTRA researchers Drs. Erler and Broocks are conducting a workshop on the topic “Land Use, Social Identities and Rural Development” with the guest. In the workshop they would like to discuss a comparative perspective between India, South America/Amazon and Germany. Since all of them have focused on the Global South so far, they would be particularly interested to hear participants' experiences from Germany (or even other countries) in connection to the workshop’s topic. The convenors are also planning to produce some kind of written output after the workshop (e.g. a small journal article, a session proposal). Thus, it would be great if some of the participants would be interested to collaborate beyond the workshop that day.

The workshop is open to all interested VISTRA members and will be held in English.

If you are interested to participate in the workshop, please email Dr. Mirka Erler before 2 June 2026.
