SUMMARY:Brown Bag Series - Prevention of Islamistic Radicalization Among Yo
 ung People
DESCRIPTION:Prof. Dr. Margit Stein & Alexandra Schramm Prevention ofIslamis
tic Radicalization Among Young People\n\nLocation: Bibliothek (L207) This b
rown bag lecture presents key findings from three publicly funded research
projects on prevention and intervention in cases of Islamist radicalisation
and religiously motivated conflicts in adolescence. The projects UWIT and
Distanz funded by the BMBF and AuGe funded by the MWK combine nationwide su
rveys with in-depth qualitative research in schools and youth work. Empiric
al findings show that religiously motivated conflicts and Islamist statemen
ts are a relevant issue in educational practice. Around one third of survey
ed educators report experiences with religious conflicts, whereas approxima
tely one quarter report Islamist-related statements or behaviors. Interview
s with educational professionals further underline a strong demand for more
systematic engagement with these topics in higher education and profession
al training. The talk introduces this concept, shares insights into the pro
cess of research funding acquisition, and invites discussion.\n\n-\n\nThe B
rown Bag Series takes place once a month at lunchtime in the library. Short
presentations and discussions bring together students, faculty, and resear
chers to explore current topics, share ideas, and gain new perspectives. In
an open and informal atmosphere – feel free to bring your own lunch – the
series offers a space for lively conversations beyond the formal seminar se
tting. Whether you would like to present your research, raise a question fo
r discussion, or simply listen in, your participation enriches the interdis
ciplinary dialogue. The Brown Bag Series is held in English. *The term “Bro
wn Bag” originates from the custom of bringing one’s lunch in a brown paper
  bag.
