Gerontology
In Germany, like in most other countries worldwide, life expectancies increase. Ageing individuals, families, groups and companies, institutions, and societies need to adjust to these changes. Other than most traditional scientific disciplines, Gerontology takes a multidisciplinary view on ageing processes on all of these levels and includes, for example, psychological, social, medical and economic perspectives, so that decisions based on scientific research have the potential to be less one-sided and therefore more carefully balanced.
In Vechta, internationally acknowledged scientists from different fields teach and conduct research in the area of Gerontology. The courses we offer (BA and MA Gerontology) stand out due to interdisciplinary, research and practice orientation, which is why the IfG takes an outstanding position nationwide regarding gerontological education.
