Prof. Dr. Karin Zimmer, Dipl.-Psych.
Empirical Educational Research
Karin Zimmer is Professor of Empirical Educational Research at the Faculty of Education and Social Sciences, University of Vechta.
She studied Psychology, Statistics and Education at the University of Regensburg and completed her doctorate in 1998. Until 2001, she worked at the Institute of Cognitive Sciences of the Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg before joining the Sound Quality Research Unit at the University of Aalborg, Denmark, as an associate professor.
From 2004 to 2009, Karin Zimmer first worked for PISA Germany at the Leibniz Institute for Science and Mathematics Education IPN in Kiel and subsequently as senior analyst for the international PISA programme at the OECD Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development in Paris.
From 2010 to 2017 Karin Zimmer worked at DIPF | Leibniz Institute for Research and Information in Education, coordinating first the national education report on Germany and subsequently the newly founded Leibniz Research Education Network LERN, a consortium of 23 research institutions.
Her current research work focusses on methods of research synthesis, the transfer of evidence and the facilitation of research co-operation on the integration of refugees in Canada and Germany.
