The onSET, a standardized language placement test for English and German as a Foreign Language, can be taken by anyone currently learning English or German and who is interested in the level of language proficiency they have achieved, for example, because they have enrolled in a language course or plan to take the TestDaF (German as a Foreign Language Exam). Since October 2011, the University of Vechta is a licensed test center for the onSET in German, and, since 2015, for the onSET in English as well.

OnSET Tests in the Winter Semester 20/21

Due to the extensive closing of universities in Germany during the Winter Semester 20/21, we cannot offer the onSET tests directly at the University of Vechta.

However, the Language Centre offers students enrolled at the University of Vechta the possibility to take the online-language level test (onSET) directly at home, either in English or in German. While this variation of the test does not include a language certificate, it will give you a good indication of the level of proficiency in English or German you have achieved so far. This will make it possible for you to choose the appropriate English or DaF-Modul in the Profiling Area (Profilierungsbereich).

If you are interested in this variant of the onSET, please send an email from your university email address to Opens window for sending emailinfo[dot]sprachenzentrum[at]uni-vechta.de.Opens window for sending email We will send you registration information as well as a TAN, with which you can book an onSET test free of charge. Please note that this test opportunity is available to enrolled students (or employees) of the University of Vechta only! We will not send information to private email addresses.
